Nichole Nelson is a licensed clinical social worker. Nichole received her Bachelor’s of Social Work and her Master’s in Clinical Social work from the University of North Dakota. She also has a minor of chemical dependency. Nichole has worked in the field of mental health for over 7 years. She worked at Great Lakes Recovery as an outpatient therapist for 3 years in which she provided mental health and substance abuse therapy. She worked with adults and children while providing indiviual therapy sessions and also facilitated several group sessions such as CBT, and Women’s group. She then transitioned to work as a mental health therapist working with ages 5-21 within the school systems in Marquette County. She worked at Ishpeming School, Gwinn School and she currently works as a Mental Health Therapist at Negaunee High School. In addition, she will join the Caught Dreamin Therapy crew and provide part time tele-health and possible office appointments.
Nichole has provided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, DBT Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Nichole has significant experience in Anxiety Disorders, Depression Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Acute Stress Disorders, and Trauma Related Disorders. Nichole also has training in family therapy, and couples therapy. Nichole stands by providing person-centered therapy. She believes it is important to focus on the needs of the client and working with each client on their specific goals.
Nichole is a native of North Dakota where her family still resides. She lived in the Los Angeles, CA area for apprixinately 8 years. She arrived in the Upper Peninsula in 2015 and has been enyoying life and new oppurtunities.She decided to enter the career of counseling due to her own life and what she could take from it to help others. She lives with her three daughters and two dogs. Nichole loves watching sports, reading books and poetry, outdoor activities, and traveling. She has a passion for music and art. She enjoys listening to all kinds of music and visiting art museums. She is a firm believer that every human has the right to have hope and produce postive life outcomes, regardless of any given moment.
